    Tournament Rules

    Roster Rules:
    • All teams who intend to play must post their official rosters by Monday December 28th @ 11:59PM.
    • Rosters must have between 6 and 10 players.
    • There are no positional restrictions; anyone on your team can play any position.
    • Players may only play on one roster, if multiple teams place a player on their roster the player will decide which team to play for on or before the deadline. If a player is on multiple rosters after the deadline he will be forced to choose and the other team will be given a chance to fill the empty roster spot however it will count as their one roster replacement. *BE CAUTIOUS*
    • Second tags are absolutely not permitted. If a player is proven to be playing on 2 tags, or if any tag recovering is proven at all the players involved and the teams involved will be removed from the tournament. No refunds will be given in any removal due to breaking the rules.
    • Once the roster deadline passes teams cannot make any changes, however in order to prevent inactivity each team has 1 roster replacement for the tournament:
    • In order to be eligible for a roster replacement a player has to be taken off the roster, that player must message NugeTV and Tris10 confirming that they no longer wish to play. No refund will be given to that player.
    • The replacement cannot be on any tournament roster, and cannot have previously been removed from another team, must be a new player.
    • The replacement must pay a $10 buy-in that will be added to the prize pool.
    • Roster Replacements can occur only during the regular season when all of the above requirements are met.
    Buy-Ins and Prizes:
    • All teams must buy-in at $100 regardless of roster size. The official deadline for payments to be in is Wednesday December 30th
    • Rosters with 10 members will have an option to submit payments individually rather than as a team*
    • If your buy-in is not in by the deadline you will be able to complete the payments before your teams first game is scheduled, if your teams buy-in is not completed before a game the game will be a forfeit. No refunds will be issued after a teams first scheduled game.
    • The Prize Pool will be dependent upon the size of the tournament; however 23% of the money collected will be going to Tris & LG to cover any costs incurred by LG due to hosting the tournament and to cover the costs of the new systems that Tris is creating to make the tournament the best that it can be.
    • The remaining 77% will be paid out to the teams that advance farthest in the playoffs using these parameters.
    • If there are less than 10 teams payouts will be as follows:
    • 2nd place receives a refund of their $100 buy-in
    • 1st place receives 100% of the remaining prize pool
    • If there are 11-19 teams the payouts will be as follows
    • 3rd place receives a refund of their $100 buy-in
    • 2nd place receives 25% of the remaining prize pool
    • 1st place receives 75% of the remaining prize pool
    • If there are 20 or more teams the payouts will be as follows
    • 4th place receives a refund of their $100 buy-in
    • 3rd place receives 10% of the remaining prize pool
    • 2nd place receives 20% of the remaining prize pool
    • 1st place receives 70% of the remaining prize pool
    Regular Season League Structure:
    • Every Team will play 2 games against each team in the league (One Home/One Away). These games will be played back to back in a home and home format to keep the season as short as possible.
    • Games will all be scheduled on January 1st by the league and can be moved through reschedules if necessary. Availability needs to be sent to NugeTV, dmerch, ImJeff, and F5 Penguin by December 30th at 11:59PM.
    • Teams will be awarded 2 points for a win, 0 points for any loss. Overtime Losses will be used as a tiebreaker but will not award any points.
    • The Top 8 teams at the end of the regular season will make the playoffs.
    • Game Times can be 9PM, 10PM, 11PM, 12AM, and 1AM EST any day of the week.
    • The regular season will run from January 1st until February 19th.
    • Reschedule Information:
    Postseason Structure:
    • The Top 8 teams will be placed in a standard bracket (1v8, 2v7, 3v6, 4v5) with no re-seeding.
    • All Series will be Best of 7s (Home-Home-Away-Away-Home-Away-Home)
    • Teams must PM their availability to NugeTV, ImJeff, dMerch and F5 Penguin for each playoff series before Saturday @ 2:59PM on the Saturday that falls in the window for those playoff games. The tournament committee will schedule the games for the teams in compliance with the availability sent. If a team fails to send their availability before Saturday @ 2:59PM the only availability that will be considered is the team in the series that managed to send theirs in on time.
    • Round 1: February 20th - February 26th
    • Round 2: February 27th - March 4th
    • Finals/Consolation: March 5th - 11th
    Game Night Procedures:
    • Challenge should be sent if Home Team is ready and the Away Team shows up in the challenge menu. The Home Team will receive an additional 5 minutes beyond the scheduled start to send a challenge. If no challenge is sent by then, and proof is provided, the Away Team may claim a forfeit
    • The Away Team has until 5 minutes after the start time to accept the challenge. If the Challenge is late they will be given 5 minutes from when the challenge is sent. If the away team is not in the Dressing Room available to challenge by 5 minutes after the scheduled start time the home team has the right to call a forfeit if they provide sufficient proof.
    Game Play Rules:
    • All games must be 6v6
    • Teams may only use players on their rosters
    • Goalies cannot fight players "to bring CPU on ice". In the event a goalie accidentally fights a player the team responsible must take a penalty. Once the penalty is over, whether or not the team at fault got scored on both teams must wind-down time until the player serving the penalty is able to play. Play only resumes when it’s 6v6 “all human players”. This 2min power-play is the sole time where a CPU will be present in the tournament and any production or result from the CPU will count 100%.
    • Anything deemed as “game breaking” or “glitching” similar to the ghost poke in NHL13 will be investigated and appropriate action will be taken to prevent it from being used.
    Lag Out Procedures:
    • If a lagout occurs, the following procedure applies: play continues as normal until the NEXT WHISTLE. At this time, both teams quit out of the game. EVERYTHING that occurs between the lagout and that whistle counts (i.e. if a goal is scored). Note: If a goalie lags out it is that team's responsibility to force a whistle the next time they touch the puck (if said team takes a delay of game penalty by flipping the puck over the glass in the process of getting a whistle, THAT penalty will not be enforced). There is to be NO quitting out of the game mid-play.
    • Upon restart of the game, time will be wound down to replicate the game situation (any leftover PP time from the lagout game must be accounted for in the new game) at the time the previous game was ended. The player that lagged out must take a penalty (if the goalie lagged out, any skater may be chosen to serve the penalty) at this time.
    Reporting a Score:
    • Scores must be entered into the system within an hour of a game being complete. Only thing that must be entered is the score.
    • Taking a screenshot of the team stats at the end of the game is encouraged for proof if there is a disagreement in the final results of the game.
    • If a score that is reported is incorrect, flag the stats and in the comment post a link to a picture(s) to prove the score is incorrect

Scheduling is AIDS...Why make it a schedule because it works for one team . This is why everyone says someone not playing in PS should be running it. Most people have lives. Take a poll, I would bet most ppl do not want one.

You play in LG, so does 90% of everyone complaining. Scheduling seems to work just fine for you.

Just hear this out Nuge. I'm not trying to attack anything you are doing. You have done an awesome job with this but realistic thinking this is going to be hard to do for some people than don't live on the game. I play 3 lg days a week... say the PS games are on the other 2 days that's 5 days a week.. that's way too much. Plus teams like to get games in early sometimes. I doubt scheduled games can happen before LG. You are making it to much like a league. Cheers

You guys may not care but the scheduling allows for a larger time frame to advertise/grow EASHL. Giving viewers a more consistent schedule to watch games is super beneficial. You want 09/10 EASHL number of teams back? This is a good way to start. You dudes should want to grow interest and grow viewers for any Twitch streams and Youtube views.

Bigger picture is key here. The sacrifice of having scheduled games for more consistent viewership is a very minor sacrifice.

    edit

You also have to factor in the captain delay and disconnects. Scheduling gives more of a reason to have people finish the games. Instead of popping on and just saying, "forget it" that particular night, scheduling helps force the games.

And yea yea, I get that captain delay and disconnects will hurt my main point above with viewership but online tournaments have always had similar issues. I watched Halo 2 Anniversary go struggle city sometimes.

Hope Games can be on most nights either way... at least this way Teams can be on when they want to be. Streaming will be there either way. There really is no benifit to a schedule except you play everyone...you have 4 teams that are already saying they hv issues with this off the bat. I'm sure there will be more. Playing at your own pace was what made this so fun.

People struggle to fit in the minimum every season so I don't think this way would work. I know for us, people don't know until the day of (sometimes the hour of) whether they can play.

arent you the only team that streams games? I just find it that this is catering to ONE team. Should be a vote of some sort.

You totally ignore my main point with "streaming will be there" it's essentially impossible to grow something via Twitch without any sort of schedule consistency. If you're not interested or care about growing EASHL for the future, that's fine. Just say that. If you truly care, then you'll be fine with the scheduling. Again this is bigger picture.

Issues with the connections in this game, scheduling is more beneficial. To say there is really "no benefit" is completely wrong. Consistent scheduled streaming is a proven fact for growth via Twitch.

I understand as a player why it sucks to not pop and play when you want. But again I want to stress bigger picture here. Future of EASHL. We wonder why EASHL lacks. Zero consistent content creators. In NHL 09/10 Twitch, Youtube Gaming and Twitter weren't factors for us at all. EASHL is unique in the sense that no other EA Sports games has a mode like it. We know EA is well aware of Pro Series cause Nooooj but showing them the viewership is there, who knows what is possible. Competitive Madden was dead until just a month ago they announce a $50k tournament. EA comes out of nowhere an announces an E-Sport division not even a week ago. Why can't we have something similar in the future? EASHL has all the makings of an E-Sport, people just don't know it exists in this competitive capacity.

I guess I'm not surprised my opinion is shrugged off. You responded pretty quickly. Take time to think about what I said. I'm showing you guys a different angle in thinking about the scheduled games.

That is far from the only reason for the change however I feel like since you're personally singling me out I should respond. In order for something to grow there needs to be an audience, there needs to be a way to generate interest. Getting the same 15ish teams to sign up and do the same thing over and over again wont garner growth. In order to generate interest having each individual game matter, having a more fair/balanced schedule, and having the ability to promote the league in an easier fashion are all important.

Im sure I'll be expanding on the other reasons later, people are welcome to have opinions but the change wasnt made for selfish reasons. It would be much easier to try to run the same tournament over and over without any changes because it would be less work on my part.

You're one of the content creators for NHL. Personally you shouldn't have an issue with this assuming you're interested in EASHL and its future. Not attacking you or anything man.

Again my line of thinking is different. I also have a life and stuff. As a player, scheduled games isn't my first choice but still about the bigger picture. Small sacrifice I'm willing to make to try and grow viewership.

Also let me add, I didn't know Pro Series was scheduled till a few days ago. I told Nuge the same thing then, that I'm saying now. I also told Nuge that the Pro Series wouldn't finish when he first posted the idea and joked about it. I was wrong. Big props to him for stepping up and doing all the work for it.

I hope one of the critics here will do the same if they're unhappy with the current format.

I get what you are saying Hope and do respect your opinion on it. Eashl is dead because of Leagues. In 09 and 10 there were no leagues so people cared who they played with all year. Along with monthly playoffs. I understand Pro Series needs to grow but doing this while the league is running and doing a schedule... on top of a schedule will be tough. You want to change things up to improve more viewers I don't think taking away teams availability to play when they want is the option.

I don't care what the format is, my team will definitely have to talk if it's scheduled. We all work and shit. I only play Sundays and Mondays for LG right now anyways. But we signed up to play competitive biggies. The money's a nice bonus but it was a constructive way to be involved in the big ones rather than playing First Ballot every night.

I like the idea at first but schedule games really won't help grow EASHL. The game just downright sucks; captain lag makes it even more unbearable. If the majority wants it changed back to the original format then it should. If EA hosts anything with a tourney for NHL like they did for madden that will make it grow, but with how things stand now nothing will repopulate the community unless EA steps in.

VHL existed in 10 and players like CJ and Satchmo played with like 8 teams in the league. Top talent started leaking into the leagues in that time.

The Pro Series season starts around when LG playoffs begin. League activity drops dramatically. Totally possible to work around it and even you can admit that.

Let me ask you this, do you want to improve viewership of EASHL? Can you offer an alternative way to lengthen the time frame for potential growth? Lets discuss then. What do you think would be most beneficial to the viewers?
